What is Semax?

Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide (7 amino acids; MW ≈ 813.9 Da) developed through academic research at the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences. It is structurally derived from the ACTH 4-7 fragment with a C-terminal Pro-Gly-Pro extension. It is intended strictly for laboratory and research purposes.

Molecular & Structural Profile

Semax's Pro-Gly-Pro C-terminal extension provides enhanced resistance to enzymatic degradation compared to the native ACTH fragment. Unlike the parent ACTH molecule, Semax does not engage adrenocortical signaling pathways in laboratory studies — a property that distinguishes it pharmacologically and is the basis for ongoing comparative peptide research.
